Terms of Use

The conditions under which Sawti is provided to you.

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Sawti apps and website. The purchase of a paid plan is governed separately by the Terms of Sale at https://sawti.io/terms-of-sale and the Refund Policy at https://sawti.io/refund.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Sawti applications on Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android, and of the website at sawti.io. By installing or using Sawti, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use Sawti.

1. Publisher

Sawti is published by Rami Hanna, individual entrepreneur, whose details are set out in the Legal Notice at https://sawti.io/legal-notice.

2. What Sawti is

Sawti is a voice dictation app for Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android. You speak, and Sawti transcribes your speech and gives you the resulting text.

On Mac and Windows you press a hotkey to start recording and press it again to stop, and Sawti places the text into whatever app you are using. On iPhone, iPad and Android you can record inside the app, or dictate straight into any text field using the Sawti keyboard.

Sawti offers five writing modes (literal dictation, polished Modern Standard Arabic, casual English, formal English, and developer English) and a read-back feature that turns selected or pasted English text into plain Arabic.

Sawti needs an internet connection, because transcription is performed on a server. How Sawti handles data is described in the Privacy Policy at https://sawti.io/privacy.

3. Free use, free trial, and paid plans

Sawti may be offered free of charge, or as a free trial followed by an optional paid plan. A free trial never requires a payment method and never turns into a paid plan by itself: a paid plan begins only when you separately and explicitly buy one.

Buying a paid plan is a separate contract, governed by the Terms of Sale at https://sawti.io/terms-of-sale and the Refund Policy at https://sawti.io/refund. Those terms do not reduce your rights under these Terms, and these Terms continue to govern your use of the app whether you pay or not.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

4. Who can use Sawti

To use Sawti you need a supported device with a working microphone and an internet connection, and you must grant the permissions the app asks for:

• Mac: macOS 14 or later. Microphone, and Accessibility (so Sawti can use a global hotkey and paste for you).
• Windows: Windows 10 or later. Microphone.
• iPhone and iPad: iOS or iPadOS 26.4 or later. Microphone. The Sawti keyboard additionally needs “Allow Full Access”, because a keyboard cannot reach the network without it; what that permission is used for is described in the Privacy Policy.
• Android: Microphone. The Sawti keyboard must be enabled in the system keyboard settings.

You do not need an account to dictate. If you are under the age of 15, please use Sawti only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

5. How you may use Sawti

You may use Sawti for your own lawful purposes. You agree not to:

• use Sawti to create, process, or distribute content that is unlawful or that infringes the rights of others;
• dictate or submit content that you do not have the right to process;
• attempt to overload, disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorized access to the Sawti server or infrastructure;
• misuse the service in a way that degrades it for other users, or circumvent the rate limits that keep it available;
• copy, resell, rent out, or reverse-engineer the application, except where the law expressly permits it.

• share your account or your sign-in details with others, or use an account that is not yours. A subscription covers your own devices only.

You are responsible for what you dictate and for where the resulting text is placed. Because Sawti places text into whatever app or text field is in front of you, please check the result before relying on it. Transcription and translation can be wrong, and you should not act on an unchecked transcription.

6. Third-party services

Sawti relies on OpenAI to transcribe and process text, on Vercel to host its server and website, and, where accounts or payments are involved, on Neon, Upstash, Resend and Paddle. Sawti cannot function if those services are unavailable. The role of each provider is described in the Privacy Policy.

Where you installed Sawti through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store’s own terms also apply to the download and to any store-side transaction. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms, are not responsible for Sawti, and provide no warranty or support for it; any claim about the app should be addressed to us through https://sawti.io/contact.

7. Intellectual property

The name “Sawti” / «صوتي», the application, the website, and their code and design belong to the publisher. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Sawti for as long as these Terms are respected. The text that Sawti produces from your speech is yours; the publisher claims no rights over the content you create with it.

8. Availability

The publisher does not guarantee that the free service will be available without interruption or error, that it will be maintained, or that any particular feature will be kept, and may change, suspend, or discontinue the free service at any time.

Where you hold a paid plan, this is different: the legal guarantee of conformity applies to what you paid for, and sections 10 and 11 of the Terms of Sale govern availability and remedies. Nothing in this section removes or limits any mandatory right you have under French law.

9. Liability

Sawti is a tool that converts speech to text. The accuracy of transcription and translation cannot be guaranteed, and automated language models can produce errors. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss arising from your use of the free service, for errors in transcription or translation, or for what you do with the resulting text.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where the law does not allow it, in particular liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross or willful misconduct. Nothing in these Terms affects the mandatory legal rights that apply to consumers under French law.

How Sawti handles personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy at https://sawti.io/privacy.

11. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated. The current version is always published on sawti.io with the date at the top. Significant changes will be notified on the website. Continuing to use Sawti after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Suspension

The publisher may restrict or block access to the Sawti server for anyone who breaches these Terms or misuses the service, in particular by attacking, overloading, or attempting unauthorized access to it.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. If you use Sawti as a consumer, you keep the benefit of the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and this choice of law does not deprive you of them.

In the event of a dispute, you are encouraged to contact the publisher first through the form at https://sawti.io/contact, so that an amicable solution can be sought. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably may be brought before the competent courts, subject to any mandatory rule that allows a consumer to bring proceedings in, or to be sued only in, the courts of their own country of residence.
